About Us - Redwoods Online
Welcome to the Redwoods Caring Foundation
Who we are
The Redwoods Caring Foundation (Redwoods) is an Edinburgh-based charity, established in 1986 by a local church in an attempt to reach out to meet the needs of a specific group of vulnerable people within the community.
We seek to support people with learning disabilities in Edinburgh and the Lothians, and this currently takes the form of a number of residential units, care at home services, a day centre and short breaks centre. A small central admin team support each of the units.
Redwoods is registered by the Care Commission and receives the majority of its revenue funding from local government. Recognising the value of those for whom we care, Redwoods works with other recognised statutory and voluntary organisations within Edinburgh.
The Redwoods Caring Foundation is a registered Scottish Charity (SC013566) and registered company (No. 125367).
Our Mission Statement
Redwoods is committed to providing a range of sensitive and flexible services for people with learning disabilities, including residential, day services and residential short breaks in the Lothians.
Those for whom Redwoods cares are encouraged and assisted to reach their maximum potential in terms of their spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing.
The Aims of Redwoods
Redwoods seeks to practically extend the love of Jesus Christ to each person, together with their family and friends, in the most appropriate and sensitive manner.
Redwoods seeks to serve people with learning disabilities in such a way as to honour their individuality, value their presence, enhance their esteem and work with them to realise an integrated and fulfilled lifestyle as well as a meaningful life.
